Latest market share of Google

According to latest survey conducted during the third quarter of the 2009 – 2010 financial year, Google has increased its market share over its competitors, yahoo and Microsoft in U.S search market.



According to survey conducted by comscore, Google accounted to 65 percent of search market and 71 percent of U.S searches which is more than three times of yahoo search engine, the second most used search engine over web.



While the same is continuing in the fourth quarter also with Google capturing 71 percent market share for U.S searches. While Google market share continue to be steady where as Bing is slowly building its ground in the fourth quarter of 2009-10.



Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO said that the short term goal of Bing is to slowly increase its market share and it is achieving slowly by capturing a 4 percent market share in Feb. 2010.



But where does the Bing get the traffic from? According to Hitwise, taken by surprise it is Google, which is fourth largest referring source for receiving traffic. And first place to occupy is MSN which sends 42.7 percent to Bing. It might not be a surprise because MSN is a Microsoft site.



On the other hand Facebook is the other source which sends traffic to Bing. Bing is a default search engine for Facebook and it make sense to send traffic and stands in the second place that sends traffic to Bing.



But Google is competitor of Bing and stands fourth in sending traffic. Here is how it happens. One way it could happen is through the Google Adwords that appear on Google search results page.
