Over last three quarters this issue has been around in news whether Google uses click through data for search engine rankings. Now we had confirmation from Josh Cohen, a senior business product manager of Google news revealed that it is being used for Google News stories as well.

Earlier most people from Google denied that Google uses click through data to rank natural search as it would be difficult to do so because it is raw data and using raw data is not clean enough to use. But recently they also told that they can not deny that Google using such data and did not revealed what data they are using because it could result into spam.

It implies that Google is definitely using some kind of user behavior information that will influence search engine rankings. This was being implemented with Google News and in the same way Google aggregates all the data from users and works out the information regarding sites that were generating highest click through rate over certain time to rank.

Hence it is wise to concentrate on your CTR for ranking better and optimizing your CTR rates to generate more value from existing results.
